You are Significant

We all experience times when we feel incredibly joyous and being a believer in Jesus seems the easiest thing in the world. However, we all also experience moments of grief, hopelessness and fear. We who know God, who know his heart, know that he does not bring about the difficult times in our lives. He does not bring about our sufferings. On the contrary, he brings our hope, purpose and peace.

I think, sometimes, we are all guilty of forgetting where our emotional pain more often than not comes from; the ‘heart’ of satan. Wherever he can, and whenever he can, he longs to bring about our suffering, he longs to see us in despair, beaten down by our fear. And, so often, we are beaten down by negative emotions before we even realise that he is attacking us, and from where the true source of our pain has come! Any chance he has to steal your joy he will take advantage of, and he’ll do it in a cunning way. His attack will look slightly different from last time. It will affect you slightly differently. It will tell you slightly different things. Because he is the master of confusion. And he is the master of fear. He will try to convince you time and time again that you are not significant. But he has been, and will always be, a liar.

But God cannot and will not lie. He is the author of perfect truth. And all who believe in God, and trust in him as their Lord and Saviour, believe everything that he has said and everything that others in the Bible have said about him. The Bible is the word of God and, as such, holds many precious and solid promises from God for us, who believe.

So, let scripture, now, remind you of who you truly are; of how significant God has promised that you are (and have these verses with you always, so that you can always remind yourself of God’s word and who He has said you are in Him):

  • I am the salt of the earth and the light of the world - Matthew 5:13-14
  • I am a branch of the true vine, Jesus, a channel of His life - John 15:1-5
  • I have been chosen and appointed by God to bear fruit - John 15:16
  • I am a personal, spirit-empowered witness of Christ’s - Acts 1:8
  • I am a temple of God - 1 Corinthians 3:16
  • I am a minister of reconciliation for God - 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
  • I am a fellow worker with God - 2 Corinthians 6:11
  • I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realms - Ephesians 2:6
  • I am God’s workmanship, created for good works - Ephesians 2:10
  • I may approach God with freedom and confidence - Ephesians 3:12
  • I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! - Philippians 4:13

By reaffirming what God has said about you, and how significant the Bible says that you are, you are becoming more and more powerful, and more useful to God. The devil is always going to want to bring you down, but God is there, 24/7, to pick you up and empower you to live your life in His strength. We are not meant to question the word of God, so if he says you are significant then you better believe it.

These verses are incredibly special and incredibly powerful. Read them often, and read them aloud so that they sink even deeper into your spirit. But read them especially when you need a little, gentle reminder of just how precious and valuable you are to God.
