Your Purpose Now
Some of you reading this, will be in a season of waiting. As I wrote, in a previous post, waiting can be extremely difficult and a particularly emotional time. You may be asking God some of these kinds of questions:
Where should I be living?
What job should I be doing?
Who do you want me to marry?
Should I have children?
What should I do with my finances?
Should I be buying a house?
Should I stop doing this?
Should I change direction?
Wow, big big questions!
There are so many questions God is asked every single day, and the good news is that he hears each and every single one of us and has prepared the answers to our questions since the beginning of time.
“But certainly God has heard me; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.”
Psalm 66:19
Some possible reasons why God could be making you wait:
Waiting is not particularly enjoyable, no matter what situation you find yourself in. But it produces in us perseverance and trust in God, which then leads to hope.
‘Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.’
Romans 5:3-5
What I want to encourage you to do, is to ask God: What are you teaching me during this season of waiting? What do you want me to learn? There is a reason why he is making you wait, so shouldn’t you ask what it is so that you can grow?!
Some possible reasons why God could be making you wait:
- It is not the right time for you to receive the answer
- You need to allow God to help you grow
- God wants you to focus on your relationship with Him, first
- You are not, at this moment, ready, spiritually, for certain things you want
- God wants you to focus on another part of your life right now
- God wants you to increase your faith and trust in him
One of the biggest mistakes you can make, as a believer, is to think that your worries begin and end with you; that if you make a mistake then your life cannot be turned around, if you make a wrong move along the way then God cannot bring you back to where you are meant to be, that if you make a wrong decision you could screw up your life. None of these things will happen! GOD IS IN CONTROL!
Do you really think that, if you believe in God and want his will in your life, that you can possibly prevent his will from being done in your life?! Not a chance! God is faithful, he is just. He will reward your faith in him by doing his will in your life, no matter if you worry you are screwing things up. God does not see things the way you and I do, his wisdom is not our wisdom. His thoughts are not our thoughts. He does not struggle with anxiety. He does not struggle with fear. He doesn’t ever feel unsure or uncertain. So, trust in him, during this season of waiting, that he will get you to where you need to be. He will not let you go astray.
‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord’.
Isaiah 55:8
‘We declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God has destined for our glory before time began’.
1 Corinthians 2:7
